Every decision is made with intention and vision for bolstering creativity rather than profits. In fact, that was precisely the motivation for beginning this journal.

Majoring in English at Georgia State University with a minor in editing and publishing and a concentration in Creative Writing, founder and editor in chief Jocelyn Osoria knew that writing creative non-fiction and poetry was most likely not going to pay the bills. Osoria understood that her job would be largely disconnected from her actual passions, which to a certain extent, she was okay with.

So what happens to the passions then? Where exactly do they go? Should everyone expect to keep it to themselves?

This reality seemed bleak, and hence, NuEpoca was born. Read more about the specifics of starting Nuepoca here.

All in all, that is really the essence of NuEpoca -- the sentiment that we shouldn't be expected to keep our creativity to ourselves, even if it's a hobby that we can't dedicate a career to. It is still worth attention, respect, and discussion. Art shouldn't depend on money, and it sure as hell shouldn't be elitist.

Overall, NuEpoca is learning the hurdles of the digital journal landscape through trial and error. We hope you join us on this journey to discovering new ways to engage with art.
